The Netherlands aims for 70% of electricity to be generated from renewable sources by 2030. This results in increased fluctuations in production that need to be balanced in the electricity demand. Innovative storage and conversion technologies play an important role in this. In consultation with various market parties, Invest-NL formulated the following question: how can the financing of these innovations be improved?
In consultation with various market parties, Invest-NL arrived at the following question: how can we improve the financing of these innovations? The report that has been prepared provides insight into: what might the electricity price look like in 2040? What are the yields of storage and conversion technologies and how does option value play a role? What are important aspects in the legal structure? And how does the Dutch market compare to other markets such as the United States and Japan?
The cases provide generic insights into how we can use innovative assets to accommodate fluctuations in the electricity grid, and how this value is translated into a financeable asset.
