Making the transition to a circular economy financeable is one of the strategic priorities of Invest-NL. An important part of this is continuously increasing and professionalising recycling in general and plastic waste in particular.
In the world of plastic waste recycling, developments follow each other at a rapid pace. Innovative companies and entrepreneurs are working on new technologies and business models.
All together, it forms a dynamic interplay of technological development, (inter)national laws and regulations, and market developments within and between countries.
For investors, it is a challenging task to stay well connected to the latest in plastic waste recycling and how this influences the financing of upcoming business cases.
Against this background, Invest-NL has commissioned the National Test Centre for Circular Plastics to conduct market research into the most current insights surrounding plastics recycling; from sorting and washing to extrusion and EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility).
The report “Recycling pathways of post-consumer plastic packaging waste in Europe” shows that it is a complex topic with pronounced differences between countries. As such, it provides financiers and investors with insights and tools that they can use to make difficult business cases financeable.
