Looking back at 2023: a broader role as the National Financing and Development Institution
In 2023 we made fundable what initially seemed not to be. In a bird's-eye view, four colleagues from Invest-NL will take you through some highlights from 2023.
Invest-NL focuses on 5 themes to accelerate the transitions towards a more sustainable and innovative Netherlands: Energy, Bio-based & Circular economy, Agrifood, Life Sciences & Health and Deep tech. Within these themes, we have made investments over the past year, both directly in companies and funds. These investments can be found in this overview.
Additionally, we worked on dozens of projects in these themes concerning market development, proposition support, and financial product development. These have helped accelerate the transitions, with results published in several publications and our stories.
In 2023, we broadened our scope through intensified cooperation with the European Commission, with InvestEU and with the European Investment Fund (EIF) in the announcement of Dutch Future Fund II. We introduced venture debt—a new financial instrument—and have been closely involved in evaluating various National Growth Fund subsidy applications. We also increasingly play a role in executing these through hybrid financing or blended finance.
