The Netherlands and Europe are facing major transitions. The energy transition, technological innovation, and economic resilience require investments of a different scale: capital-intensive, complex, and with a long-term horizon. Especially with this type of investment, financing demands more than standard solutions. We are proud to announce that Jacomijn Vels will soon start as director of Structured Finance & Corporate Investments at Invest-NL.
With the new Structured Finance & Corporate Investments department, we are taking an important step in diversifying our offerings. In addition to venture capital investments, we are strengthening our focus on large-scale transition projects and flexible solutions for established companies.
Structured Finance & Corporate Investments focuses on enterprises and projects with complex financing needs: companies looking to scale proven technologies, realize new strategic activities, or invest in capital-intensive infrastructure for major societal transitions. Invest-NL plays a role that goes beyond capital alone. We step in where additional risk appetite and flexibility are needed, and ensure that financing matches the phase, risk, and ambitions of the company or project.
Jacomijn brings over thirty years of experience from the financial sector. She started in 1994 at ING and held various international roles in leasing, structured finance, leveraged finance, credit restructuring, and sustainable finance. In her last role, she was the Global Head of the Sustainable Solutions Group at ING Wholesale Banking, working with an international team on sustainable financing solutions for transitioning companies. Previously, she built leveraged finance teams in Amsterdam, Sydney, and Singapore, and led teams on restructuring complex financing issues.
Rinke Zonneveld, CEO of Invest-NL: “With Jacomijn, we have a director who knows complex financing inside out, has international experience, and understands how to bring together public and private parties around investments that matter. Her arrival helps us further develop and make more visible our broader financing offerings for companies, projects, and financiers working on the economy of tomorrow.”
Jacomijn Vels: “The major transitions not only require capital but also financing structures that make risks manageable and bring different parties together. I look forward to supporting companies and projects that are important for the future of the Netherlands with our team.”
