Invest-NL investst in Infinity Recycling

Invest-NL commits € 15 million towards Infinity Recycling’s Circular Plastics Fund, the first investment fund fully dedicated to addressing the scaling of advanced plastic recycling technologies. The Fund will contribute to the industry’s circular market ambitions by investing in advanced recycling companies through minority investments.

The commitment is in line with Invest-NL’s objective to accelerate the transition to a fully circular economy in the Netherlands, in which the plastics industry has a major role to play. To achieve the challenging Dutch recycling goals, the industry has to innovate in its technologies and scale these substantially. Invest-NL is working with many partners in the field to enable these companies to succeed.

Elisabeth Storm de Grave (principal investment manager Agrifood, Circular & Biobased Economy at Invest-NL): “The Netherlands is well placed to address the plastic waste crisis, given its strong industry infrastructure, its access to plastic waste streams and its chemical refinery infrastructure. However, access to sufficient scaling capital within this industry is limited. This is particularly the case for the advanced recycling industry, where many start- and scaleup companies require substantial high risk capital.

Guy de Sévaux (senior business development manager Circular & Biobased Economy at Invest-NL): “Invest-NL is backing Infinity Recycling’s Circular Plastic Fund as a cornerstone investor because it is of great importance   to enable the further innovation of the plastic recycling industry, where various advanced recycling technologies can have a tremendous impact on addressing those parts of the plastic waste stream which cannot be recycled through mechanical technologies. With Invest-NL’s commitment towards this Fund, we aim to address this matter and motivate others to allocate capital similarly.”

Jeroen Kelder (managing partner at Infinity Recycling): “We have worked extensively with Invest-NL over the last year and a half and are delighted with their commitment as our cornerstone investor for the first close of the Circular Plastic Fund.”

Jan Willem Muller (managing partner at Infinity Recycling): “With our strong investment pipeline of advanced recycling technology companies, we look forward to close our first investments within coming months and have a positive impact through providing these firms with the dedicated expertise in relation to the sustainable commercialization of their technologies.”

Invest-NL was supported by Ingenhousz as legal counsel.
