Invest-NL and Myne Holding are jointly investing in the preservation and further development of Magnetic Density Separation (MDS) technology for plastic recycling. The investment focuses on acquiring the intellectual property rights and equipment from the estate of Umincorp, a company in which Invest-NL previously participated. This investment marks a significant step in safeguarding and advancing Dutch expertise in high-grade recycling.
The technology has been acquired by Myne Circular Plastics, a business unit of Myne Holding (formerly Reukema). The total investment amounts to €3 million, jointly financed by Myne Holding and Invest-NL.
“This investment supports the continuity of innovative recycling technologies and paves the way for a sustainable, future-proof business model,” said Emma den Held, Investment Manager at Invest-NL.
Myne anticipates a significant increase in demand for recycled plastics starting in 2030, when national regulations will mandate the use of recycled plastic in packaging. In preparation, Myne will integrate the acquired MDS technology with its existing MDX technology for processing metal-plastic composites. This forms a key pillar in Myne’s broader strategy to scale up circular raw materials and develop forward-looking recycling solutions.
