Invest-NL is proud to announce a strategic investment of € 5 million in Astanor Ventures, a renowned impact investor in the agrifood sector. This investment signifies a critical advancement in reinforcing financing options within the Dutch agrifood ecosystem. In addition to Invest-NL, other National Promotional Institutes (NPIs) are also investing in Astanor Ventures, such as Bpifrance, KfW, and Vækstfonden.
The agrifood sector alone is responsible for one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, it is estimated that one-third of the food produced is not consumed. Through this investment, Invest-NL aims to leverage Astanor Ventures' expertise and experience to contribute to a more sustainable food system.
Astanor Ventures has strongly positioned itself in the Northwest European agrifood sector and is considered a significant impact investor. The fund offers investment tickets ranging from € 1 to € 25 million and has the capability to finance companies from the Seed stage to Series C and beyond.
This investment holds particular strategic value for Invest-NL. The collaboration includes, in addition to financial resources, the systematic exchange of expertise, deal flow, and access to knowledge partners on topics relevant to Invest-NL. These topics include but are not limited to regenerative agriculture, alternative proteins, and bio-based materials. Furthermore, Astanor Ventures is willing to participate in Invest-NL’s venture-building programs, such as Fastlane, thereby strengthening these programs.
Elisabeth Storm de Grave, investment principal with Invest-NL: “We are excited to announce our strategic partnership with Astanor Ventures, a leading player in the agrifood investment space. Astanor's deep expertise in financing disruptive agrifood ventures across stages—from Seed to Series C and beyond—makes them an invaluable co-investor as we jointly work to fortify the Dutch agrifood ecosystem. This collaboration perfectly aligns with our own objective to finance high-impact, capital-intensive ventures in the agrifood sector.”
