The bar for the financing and development fund Invest-NL needs to be raised. The fund should play a more prominent role, taking European sister organizations as a shining example.
In the weekly podcast hosted by Hendriks and Bross, there is always one guest who can talk aboutHendriks and Bross entrepreneurship in the world of tech, crypto, startups, and scale-ups. This time, it was Rinke Zonneveld. He has been the CEO of Invest-NL since September 1, 2022. This fund invests in enterprises that aim to make the Netherlands more sustainable and innovative. Zonneveld has also been the CEO of InnovationQuarter, the regional development agency for South Holland, since late 2013. Prior to that, he worked at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Hague for many years.
Zonneveld extensively discussed the ambitions of the financing and development fund. 'Invest-NL needs to play an even more prominent role. In doing so, the Dutch government can play a role. I believe that the government should be less concerned with subsidies and should be more willing to embark on entrepreneurial ventures with entrepreneurs,' said Zonneveld. 'When I look at our sister organizations in other European countries, we need to move in that direction. Additionally, we need to ensure that we receive more funds from Brussels. Furthermore, an exciting task is to attract more funds from pension funds in the Netherlands.'
