Tyson Foods invests in Protix to enable international expansion

Today, Protix announced that Tyson Foods, Inc., a global food company, is joining as a new shareholder. Protix, a Dutch company that produces natural and sustainable ingredients from insects, is part of Invest-NL's Agrifood investment portfolio.

Through this direct investment, Tyson Foods acquires a minority stake in Protix, allowing Protix to finance further international expansion. Furthermore, Tyson Foods and Protix have initiated a joint venture for the construction of an insect ingredient factory in the United States. Once this facility is completed, it will be the first of its kind on a large scale, converting by-products from Tyson's food production into high-quality insect proteins and fats. These insect ingredients will be sold to companies primarily in the pet food and aquaculture industries.
