Strengthening healthcare technology with investment in Capricorn Healthtech Fund II

Invest-NL has invested €5 million in the Capricorn Healthtech Fund II. This fund focuses on innovative companies in healthcare technology that enable personalized and affordable care. With this investment, Invest-NL is increasing access to funding for Dutch startups and scale-ups in healthcare.

With the first closing at € 51 million, Capricorn Healthtech Fund II has laid a solid foundation to invest in promising startups and scale-ups in digital health and medtech. The fund specifically targets innovations that make healthcare more affordable and improve patient outcomes, with a focus on the Benelux region and Europe as a whole. At least double the amount invested by Invest-NL will be allocated to Dutch companies.

The healthcare sector in the Netherlands faces significant challenges. Innovation is essential to keep care accessible and affordable. With this investment in Capricorn Healthtech Fund II, Invest-NL fills a funding gap for startups and scale-ups in this sector and supports innovative technologies that contribute to better healthcare.

"The Netherlands has a shortage of Series A investors in the Life Sciences & Health sector. Capricorn Healthtech Fund II addresses this financing gap by focusing on companies that are too large for seed funding but too small for larger European funds. In addition to capital, the fund offers access to a broad network and over ten years of expertise in medtech and digital health. This provides valuable co-investment opportunities and stimulates knowledge sharing within the sector," says Mats Wassink, Investment Associate at Invest-NL.

Through this partnership, Invest-NL is taking an important step in strengthening the ecosystem for healthcare innovations in the Netherlands. In this way, we contribute to a healthier and more innovative future.
