Invest-NL invests € 5 million in Nextgen Ventures 3, the third fund of the specialised healthcare investor. With this fund, Nextgen Ventures focuses on promising medtech and healthtech startups in the early stage. The fund plays an important role in a segment of healthcare where there is a structural lack of risk capital.
Dutch healthcare faces significant challenges and innovations are essential. At the same time, the early stages of developing healthcare technology involve many uncertainties and risks, which limits the availability of capital. Nextgen Ventures 3 is one of the few specialized funds that invests precisely in this early phase and has played a vital role in bridging this funding gap for over ten years.
The third fund from Nextgen Ventures is aimed at investments in technologies such as medical devices, AI applications, and digital healthcare solutions that contribute to better patient outcomes and more efficient care processes. Besides investing in healthcare innovations, they also actively support entrepreneurs in bringing their technology to market, based on their expertise.
Invest-NL is investing €5 million in Nextgen Ventures 3. With this contribution, Invest-NL, alongside Noaber and Triade, is one of the largest investors in the fund.
This investment positions Invest-NL as a catalyst for Nextgen Ventures 3. By stepping in early as a major investor, Invest-NL not only contributes to the funding of the fund but also sends a clear signal of confidence to the market. This way, Invest-NL aims to mobilise capital and ensure that healthcare innovations can be financed more quickly and at a larger scale.
Previously, Nextgen Ventures invested in companies that are groundbreaking and deliver demonstrable impact. For example, Momo Medical uses technology to make night care in nursing homes more efficient and humane, providing more peace for residents and caregivers. Another example is Manometric 3D. Using 3D technology and AI, they develop custom-made braces, prostheses, and orthoses. This not only improves the quality of care for patients internationally but also saves time-consuming manual labour from scarce staff.
