Investment funds finding their way to the Dutch Future Fund

At the end of 2020, Invest-NL introduced the Dutch Future Fund (DFF) together with the European Investment Fund, which is a subsidiary of the European Investment Bank. Both parties invested € 150 million in the DFF, thereby making € 300 million available for Dutch innovative growth companies. The first five venture and growth capital funds have since been successfully funded by the DFF.

Expectations are that a similar number of funds can again expect to receive funding from the DFF in Q1 2021. The venture and growth capital funds financed thus far by the DFF are active in the sectors of Life Sciences & Health, Impact Investing, ICT and in the Agri-food sector. The funds primarily focus on innovative SME companies in the Netherlands that are ready to be scaled up.Invest-NL was founded was to reinforce the cooperation with European institutions and to make European investment funds more accessible to Dutch SMEs, among other reasons. Also during their introductory meeting on 18 February 2021, Kris Peeters, the vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Wouter Bos, CEO of Invest-NL, talked about ways for the EIB and Invest-NL to work together. Among other things, they discussed the funding of Dutch projects in the field of 'green recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic’, digital innovation and the strengthening of the circular economy for better access to critical materials.
