Update: Invest-NL has concluded its investment in Umincorp.

The investment is intended for the construction of a new rPET factory in Rotterdam. Umincorp (“Urban Mining Corp”) has developed an innovative technology that addresses a major recycling bottleneck: separating plastics from household waste streams.

Invest-NL is investing € 9 million and is using the EIB InnovFin SME Guarantee.

This time, Invest-NL is investing together with the Rotterdam Energy Transition Fund in Umincorp, the market leader in sustainable plastic recycling. Through this investment, Umincorp will become the full owner of Plastic Recycling Amsterdam (PRA), of which it currently owns a share via a joint venture. This allows Umincorp to have full control over the entire recycling chain.

Umincorp - Giving a boost to high-quality recycling of plastics from household waste

In December 2021, Invest-NL invested €9 million in Umincorp for the construction of a new rPET plant in Rotterdam. Umincorp is taking the next step in high-quality recycling of plastics from household waste streams. Jaap Vandehoek (founder and CEO of Umincorp), Reda Atibi (investment manager at Invest-NL), and Marlou Kortstee (investment associate at Invest-NL) discuss this significant investment to enhance the circularity of plastics.
